WHY IS PLANNING &
PRE-PRODUCTION SO IMPORTANT? The success of your project is determined long before it reaches the editing suite. And the road to that success begins with a script. Why? Imagine for a moment that, instead of creating a video, you're planning to build a house. Before construction starts you need to visualize what your new home will look like - so you know whether it meets your needs and so you can estimate the time and costs involved in building it. That's why we invented blueprints. And if you follow a proper set of blueprints, you'll wind up with the dream house you expected instead of a lean-to and an empty bank account. The same principle applies to video and multimedia production. Only in this case, the blueprint is the treatment, script and storyboard. The dialogue, narration and descriptions in a well-written treatment give you the ability to visualize your program before it is created and make revisions before production and editing begin. The script/treatment also gives a producer the information needed to determine a shooting schedule and a budget. |
